Our goal is to make our library the hub of the Emek community, a warm
and inviting center for research and reading. You are invited to stop by
and check out books for your family and yourself.
A Center for Talent Development
This year, the Library has a special focus on Talent Development.
We want to help our students identify their talents and support them in
developing their skills and interest areas. We will be hosting Exploratory
Academies at recess times in the Library to help our students explore
their special interests.
Parents are especially welcome to check out books, help in the
library and to meet with Mrs. Shagalov to discuss your children's reading
and research interests. Call ext. 2125 to make an appointment.
Calling all students!
Here are a few of the special things you can do in the library.
Join the Library Council. Students on the Library Council help
select new books for the library and plan the Readathon Contest. Library
Council students will help select prizes, promote the Readathon, collect
and tally the results each week, and declare the winners at the end.
The Library Council will also plan and serve the Readathon ice cream
party for the winners. Library Council members also have special library
priveleges, such as checking out more books and learning the
behind-the-scenes secrets of how the library works.
Publish a Book. Come to the Library Publishing Center during
recess time where you will find everything you need to write, illustrate
and publish your creative writing. We will make a copy of your book to
add to the library collection and you will become the newest author in
the library catalog!
Exploratory Academies. Explore your interests and talents
during our special recess-time Exploratory Academies. You will be able
to read about and try many different things in Science, Art, learning more about the world and how things work.
Now open at lunch recess! Third-Eighth graders can choose to
spend a cool, relaxing lunch recess period in the library. You may come
to the library to relax on our cushions and read, play games with your
friends, draw, write poems and stories, make up a play and explore your
interests and talents.
